Meetings In Accordance with the Labour Market Demands

Modernisation of the infrastructure of the Novy Oskol agricultural vocational school was the topic of the conference held in early April on the school campus. The participants included the head of the Novy Oskol district administration A. Gridnev and heads of the leading agriculture companies, including business units of the Prioskolye group of companies.

The vocational school is one of the oldest local educational institutions, which, however, always tries to stay ahead of the curve with regards to the teaching methods it uses. Classes are taught in well-equipped laboratories and classrooms and involve the wide use of interactive teaching methods and information technologies. At the moment it has some 800 students in six specific areas, three of which have been included in the TOP-15 most wanted professions in the regional market. However, the constant modernisation of the education process puts increased demands on the infrastructure of the vocational school.

"Improving the assets that we use to train the future participants of WorldSkills championships and to hold these championships, creating a regional centre for holding demonstration exams that specialists can take to confirm and improve their qualifications, and introducing a number of other innovations that we plan to roll out over the next two years – these are the objectives we plan to achieve in the near future," said the head of the vocational school S. Osipov. "In order to achieve these objectives and complete the accreditation procedure for our training programmes, we need to complete the repairs of our workshops and laboratories as well as to buy new high tech equipment for them to make sure they meet modern production requirements." Novy Oskol agribusiness companies could offer significant help with this modernisation…

"All the parties involved would benefit from this type of cooperation," A. Gridnev noted, summing up the conference. "The school would get the equipment it needs to ensure that the classes it offers meet the requirements of the labour market, while the businesses would get highly skilled professionals that can hit the ground running when they join their companies immediately after finishing their training."
