A celebration dedicated to the 286th anniversary from the date of the city foundation took place in Barnaul, the capital of the Altai Territory. A special fair called Meat Gourmand’s Day was the most bright and spectacular event.

During the event the Altai manufactures of meat products and sausages traditionally amaze fellow citizens with the exhibition of “meat wonders”.

- Holding the theme-based fair during consecutive nine years is a good indicator of the dynamic and successful development of the region’s meat industry.

Nowadays, 290 companies work in this field, and over 4 ths people are employed by them, said Aleksandr Lukyanov, Deputy Head of the Altai Territory.

The leading meat processing companies submitted hundreds of sausages, meat delicacies and semi-finished products to approval of gourmands and professional jury.

Entertainment events were in abundance as well.

“Blind” tasting of sausages was held during the Popular Choice contest. Guests of the exhibition tried numbered samples and chose the best ones based on their own preference.

A contest in Pelmeni (Russian ravioli) quick making attracted a lot of participants. Representatives of Altai Broiler JSC held a quiz to check knowledge of the poultry farm products and names of national poultry meat meals.

Meanwhile, children took part in a drawing competition and outdoor games with a Chicken costume character…

Summing up the results of the exhibition of “meat wonders” has become the climax of the event. The team of Altai Broiler JSC won the Creative poultry meat products contest.

A giant butterfly (weighting over 100 kg) made of poultry meat, rice, vegetables and fruit has been cooked this year for the contest.

Despite an impressive weight, the Butterfly “flitted away” very quickly.

After the assessment of the exhibit by the jury, more than 400 people took part in the wondrous meal tasting!
